FIA World Touring Car Championship Sept 7-8

ELK GROVE, Calif. - Sept. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- The FIA World Touring Car Championship will make its second consecutive visit to North America at Sonoma Raceway, Sept. 7-8.

Fans will want to be front and center for exciting fender-to-fender racing on the twisting road course and will see plenty of on-track action between these full-bodied racecars in two 13-lap sprint races on Sunday, Sept. 8. WTCC drivers subscribe to the "rubbin' is racin'" theme, so expect tempers to flare and intensity to be at an all-time high. Sonoma is Round 9 of the 12-race global series, which also features stops in exotic locales like Italy, Brazil, Argentina, China and Russia.

But the action won’t be limited to the 12-turn, 2.50 mile road course as spectators will enjoy plenty of interactive elements both on and off the track. Here’s a glimpse at the lineup:

All Weekend
Yokohama Formula Drift Demos
Three of the hottest drivers in the Formula D series will slide through Sonoma Raceway for high-speed, tire-smoking demo runs. You’ll see Michael Essa (GSR Autosport BMW E46), Toshiki Yoshioka (GTnet Tomei Subaru BRZ ) and Pat Mordaunt (A’pexi Lexus SC430) hit the track.  See the cars up close and meet the Yokohama Drift Team for autographs on both Saturday and Sunday at their display in the main paddock.

Yokohama Formula Drift Autograph Session
Michael Essa, Toshiki Yoshioka and Pat Mordaunt will be signing autographs on Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and the Sunday autograph session will be from 1:40 – 2:20 p.m.

All Autograph sessions will take place at the Yokohama Display directly behind the main grandstand.

Sunday, Sept. 8
FIA World Touring Car Championship Driver Autograph Session, 9:45 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
This is your chance to get autographs from the stars of the FIA WTCC, including 2012 Sonoma Raceway defending champions Yvan Muller and Rob Huff.  The full-field autograph session will take place behind the main grandstand on Sunday morning.

WTCC Pre-Race Ceremonies and Driver Introductions, 10:45 a.m.
Make sure to upgrade your race-day ticket to include a pre-race pass and be front-and-center for driver introductions and pre-race ceremonies on Sunday, which include a display of the large American flag, the national anthem and drivers start your engines!

United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) Autograph Session, 12:15 p.m.-12:45 p.m.
The USTCC will host a full-field autograph session on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. across from the Ticket Pit Stop. Pick up a poster or hero card and get a signature from the USTCC grid.

Total Access Q&A with WTCC Driver Charles Ng, 1 p.m.
Upgrade your ticket to the Total Acces pass to receive preferred access to a question and answer session with Charles Ng and other WTCC stars in the Wine Country Winner’s Circle at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Get a Photo with the WTCC Grid Girls, 1:20 p.m.
Get your photo taken with several of hte WTCC grid girls on Sunday at 1:20 p.m. in the Wine Country Winner’s Circle.

Slammed Society Showcase presented by Fatlace™
Fatlace’s premier automotive lifestyle event will make a stop in Sonoma on Sunday, Sept. 8, as part of the Slammed Society 2013 World Tour.  Created for all makes and models, this main paddock showcase will celebrate all things low, including classics, VIP, low riders, drift and more.

Time Attack Demo & Track Car Showcase presented by Evasive Motorsports
Southern California-based Evasive Motorsports presents a track car showcase and time attack exhibition featuring their track-prepared vehicles.  Meet them in the main paddock with the Slammed Society Showcase and watch as they take to the track at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
