Follow on Google News | The Gallery at the Davis Building announces the art event "An Evening with the Stars"By: The Gallery at the Davis Building The event, sponsored by Art Explosion Toledo, takes place during the final Art Walk of the summer season. Admission is free. The evening will include a glass-blowing demonstration by Bob-O Glass, fire-breathing by KC St. John, and poetry readings by Huntor Prey, among other live presentations. In the outdoor Gallery space, guests can browse a wide variety of craftworks and interact with the local artisans. Inside the Gallery, they can view the fall showcase, Emerging Stars, which will run from September 1, 2013, through October 5, 2013. The collection features the works of emerging talent in the Toledo area and includes photography, abstract paintings, glassworks, sculpture, and more. All items are available for purchase. “This is the first gallery show for many of the artists,” said Michael Palmer, resident artist and director of the Gallery at the Davis Building. “For example, Madison Roy is an extraordinary detail artist with a huge body of work, and she has never shown in a gallery. The exhibit and the Evening with the Stars event are opportunities to bring attention to these artists, give them a space to share their work, and enable the community to experience their diverse talents.” Participating artists include; All Good Things, Bert Spangenthal, Biz Drouillard, Bob-O Glass, Chris Eichenberg, Dee Brown, Dwayne Mckinney, Eric Broz, Heart of Toledo, Huntor Prey, Up-cycled Dragonfly, Jennifer Creighton, Kc Saint John, Linden R. Daniels, Lucette Jones, Madison Roy, Madison St John, Michael Palmer, Rebecca Graves, Sean Jones, Stacey Ann Marie Meatte, Stephanie Guittard Scigliano , Yana Galanin, Yvonne Moryc, among others. Complimentary beer and wine will be available during An Evening with the Stars. Pam’s Corner, inside the Gallery, will feature a special menu of items for purchase. Guided tours of the Davis Building will also be conducted by The Arts Commission at 6:15 and 6:45 from the corner of St. Clair and Lafayette streets.
