The NFL Settlement: Free Report for Concussions, Head Trauma and CTE

The recent NFL Settlement ignites emotions ranging from outrage to peace to paranoia to hope as debate over who should pay for the degenerative effects of brain trauma and concussions lingers on.

Aug. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- The NFL Settlement is anything but “settled.” Some headlines hint at something sinister as they proclaim that the payoff is a form of hush money; others admit that while it doesn’t “cure” anything, it does provide a way for players and their families to get immediate care.

The alternative for former players and their families was to spend many more years in court to squeeze out more money from the NFL while those affected with the negative effects of brain trauma had the life squeezed out of them.

No matter what side you agree with, it is encouraging that funds from the NFL settlement are designated to provide education, research, and the collection of baseline data for players.

Military Grade Nutritionals has just released a series of articles that address the concerns of brain trauma, concussions, brain health, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, combat stress, and PTSD.

The NFL Report: What you Need to Know about Concussions and Head Trauma is available for free download by going to:

NFL football is a violent game. The player’s job is to physically stop their opponent. And when the guy in front of you weighs close to 300 pounds in some cases, or he’s sprinting toward you on the power of legs the size of tree trunks, there are really very few options.

You’re going to butt heads…literally!

And while the game has made strides to become safer for players, companies are in the labs working hard to create equipment and helmets better to withstand sudden impacts, and nutritional science is discovering ways to fortify the underlying equipment (the brain)…the fact is that the game is still physical.

The more we learn, the better chance there will be to identify a potentially damaging blow, diagnose a head trauma better, and discover better ways to treat or prevent neurodegenerative diseases.

This scientific knowledge will benefit more people than just professional NFL football players with concussions.

The military has already been studying brain trauma as a result of combat blasts. And they have worked with the NFL on some projects to find better ways to get those baseline numbers and analyze any changes to those numbers. Just as one example, some helmets (combat and NFL helmets) are equipped with sensors to measure the force of impact.

So while no amount of NFL Settlement money will bring back the health of players who already have diminished capacities, the future for brain health and treating degenerative neurological conditions could be a little better because of the research and results that emerge from the continued quest to keep players and soldiers safe.
