La Ristra New Mexican Kitchen Grand Opening & Hatch Chile Roasting Party

GILBERT, Ariz. - Aug. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- From some of the same family members behind Valley favorite Los Dos Molinos restaurants, comes the grand opening of La Ristra New Mexican Kitchen, a new restaurant in Gilbert.

On September 6, 7, and 8, the community is invited to La Ristra’s grand opening to enjoy great food, drink specials, live entertainment, and onsite roasting of Hatch green chile.

Three decades ago John Gabaldon’s great-aunt opened the original Los Dos, and he is carrying on that tradition of bringing great food to the Valley with his new concept restaurant, La Ristra, a New Mexican Kitchen.

La Ristra brings flavors and recipes from New Mexico to their customers, in particular the renowned Hatch green chile. Every August, Gabaldon’s family travels to Hatch in New Mexico to harvest the chiles before returning to the Valley to roast the chiles themselves.

For La Ristra’s grand opening, customers can pre-order Hatch green chile by the pound and Gabaldon will be roasting the chiles onsite for customers throughout the grand opening weekend. Customers have until August 31^st to contact the restaurant to pre-order their chile. Last year Gabaldon’s family roasted over 15,000 pounds of Hatch chiles for Valley residents.

In addition to the plethora of Hatch green chile incorporated into the dishes on the New Mexican restaurant’s menu, blue corn is a star in several dishes and Gabaldon imports blue corn meal from New Mexico to make La Ristra’s chips. There is some Spanish influence on the menu as well, inspired by Gabaldon’s country of birth and his mother’s homeland.

The grand opening will also give community members the chance to check out and sample some of the 130 tequilas available at La Ristra’s bar. Tequila flights and margarita flights (four, six-ounce margarita samplers) are a convenient way to try a variety of tequila types.

For $20 tequila tasters can sign up to join the “Agave Club.” All Agave Club members receive a glass snifter with their name etched on it, and throughout the year they receive members-only discounts, tequila tasting invitations, and more. There will be drink specials throughout the grand opening weekend.

The restaurant had a soft opening earlier this summer, and patrons had the opportunity to order from the full menu on the bar side of the building while the dining area was being constructed. The grand opening will reveal the newly completed dining room and private party room (La Ristra also caters).

“We want to be an integral part of the Gilbert community,” said Gabaldon, and to that end La Ristra supports local charities, schools, and purchases from local vendors.

La Ristra’s grand opening will be September 6 – 8, 2013. Located at 638 E. Warner in Gilbert, La Ristra is open for lunch and dinner daily. Happy hour is 2 – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the bar is open until midnight on Friday and Saturday. La Ristra is proud to share the finest New Mexico cuisine with Arizona residents.
