Long weekends in Lapland set to become easier from January 2014 - with The White Circle

Aug. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Lapland winter experiences specialist The White Circle is working with Sorrisniva igloo hotel in Norway for the first time this winter, pairing up with the world’s northern-most igloo hotel and new London-Alta flights which will begin on 24 January 2014. With 18 new flights from the UK (London City Airport) to Alta in Norway, the new flight route – with the Norwegian-owned airline Flynonstop.no – will make Norway’s far north more accessible, opening up a new, easy and fast route from the UK in to the depths of the Arctic.

500km north of the Arctic Circle, Alta offers all the essentials for a Lapland break. Now, under four hours’ flight from central London (with a touch-down in Bodø), the city is also a new short-break destination.

Making use of the new flights, The White Circle has introduced this new long weekend trip:

NEW: Go north for the weekend to Norway
Tick off all the Lapland must-dos on this Arctic weekend in Alta, taking just two days off work. During the three-night break, you’ll navigate the Arctic terrain on a husky-sled, hunt for the Northern Lights in dark, light pollution-free skies, learn to drive a snowmobile across the dramatic frozen landscapes and spend a night in an igloo. Unlike many igloo and snow hotels, Sorrisniva continues to be built by local designers and its facilities include outdoor hot tubs and a restaurant specialising in local and seasonal produce. There’s also time to explore the small city of Alta, with its pre-historic carvings, fascinating exhibition on the Aurora and, newly-opened (in 2013), the Cathedral of the Northern Lights which was inspired by and designed to symbolise the natural phenomenon.

- Departing January-March 2014, ‘An Arctic Weekend in Alta’ costs from £1,545 pp (two sharing) including flights (London City), transfers, three nights’ B&B accommodation (including one night in an igloo hotel), one other meal, all activities, cold-weather clothing and guides.
