Norway's Statoil has awarded the pre front-end engineering design contract

XI'AN, China - Aug. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Norway's Statoil has awarded the pre front-end engineering design contract for its expansion plans at its Snohvit LNG facility to engineering company Foster Wheeler, the latter said late Thursday.


Statoil announced in January that the partners in Snohvit LNG plant would make a possible investment decision on the second train toward the end of 2013, and the new facility could be expected to be online in 2018, at the earliest.
Operator Statoil owns 33.53% of Snohvit LNG, with Petoro holding 30%, GDF Suez 12%, Total 18.4%, Hess 3.26% and RWE Dea 2.81%.
The existing plant, on the island of Melkoya in the north of Norway, has a design capacity to produce 4.3 million mt/year of LNG from the remote Snohvit gas field in the Arctic.
Foster Wheeler said the contract was for the "Snohvit Future Development Project." It did not disclose the value of the deal, but said the work would continue throughout 2011, with the first release of work included in its Q1 2011 results.
The contract includes concept design activities, it said, which would support the finalization of the development concept and of the final plant capacity.
