Mesa Helps Bank Create a Uniquely Branded Branch Interior

LITCHFIELD, Conn. - Aug. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Litchfield, CT - Strong brands lead to competitive advantage, and Mesa Integrated, Inc. believes that a key element of a strong brand for a bank is interior branch design.  Working with their longtime client, Litchfield Bancorp, Mesa helped the bank integrate branded messaging into a new branch design, which was applied to the bank’s newest office, recently opened in Watertown, CT.

The unique design incorporates a brand “Promise” into colorful wall treatments throughout the office. The “Promise” outlines the bank’s commitment to delivering the highest level of customer service. It was created during a rebranding effort conducted by Mesa for Litchfield Bancorp, prior to the new branch design.

Although mobile technology and changing behaviors are reducing overall traffic to branches, the branch is still an important part of a bank’s customer experience. Branches are now being designed with greater consideration of the retail experience, not just a transactional experience.

“When we learned that the bank was planning a new office, we immediately saw the opportunity to expand the branding elements beyond the typical signage and merchandising,” according to Wendy Gladstein, Mesa president. “All banking institutions face challenges when trying to be unique. We thought this was one more way that we could make the bank more differentiated, and more distinct, from others.”

Bank management had expressed an interest in using the new branch as a template for a whole new interior look. Paul McLaughlin, senior vice president of Litchfield Bancorp said: “We know that new generations mean new approaches to banking, and not just in the area of technology. We also want to create a more exciting retail environment inside our branches. Customers interact with us in many different ways, but the branch still represents a public face of our bank.”

Mesa approached the project by first developing an expanded color palette that could be applied to the new interior design, as well as to new collateral for the branch system. Once the color palette was established, Mesa developed a variety of concepts for applying that new palette to the interior walls, with the challenge of creating unusual wall treatments not typically found in a bank branch. The final design was applied to walls in the entry, teller area and customer lounge, and a version of the design was applied in etching to glass in the entryway.
