BCAE presents: Bled for Boston

Bostonians Gather to Document Tattoos Received in Honor of the Boston Marathon Tragedy

BOSTON - Aug. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- BOSTON, MA– August 2013–  The Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) will be transformed into a photography studio on September 14th & 15th, 2013 as Bostonians gather to document their tattoos received in honor of the Boston Marathon tragedy which will be featured in an upcoming gallery, Bled for Boston.

Following the marathon tragedy, BCAE Instructor and freelance photographer Chris Padgett, was so moved by the events that he decided to get a tattoo at Good Mojo Tattoos, a tattoo parlor located in Beverley, MA that was donating proceeds from Boston-themed tattoos to the bombing victims. Chris soon noticed a growing number of parlors and people doing the same and he wanted to document it. Thus, “Bled for Boston” was born.

“Bostonians everywhere showed their support for the city after the Boston Marathon bombings. Many tattoo shops in Massachusetts stepped up and offered Boston-themed tattoos, donating their profits to The One Fund Boston. I want to document the people that dedicated permanent space on their bodies as memorials to their city, first-responders and the people who lost their lives at the Marathon,” said Chris Padgett, Bled for Boston organizer.

On Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th, 2013 the BCAE invites anyone and everyone to become involved in part of Chris’ moving “Bled for Boston” project by having their Boston Marathon themed tattoo photographed and documented during a drop-in portrait session. Those wishing to participate can pre-register for a shoot session by emailing Chris Padgett at info@bledforboston.com. The final series of photographs will be showcased as part of the BCAE’s rotating art exhibit during the month of April 2014 to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Boston bombings.
