Canada's Oldest Acupuncture School

The Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine is Canada’s oldest established school of Chinese Medicine.
 
Aug. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- The Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ITCM), is Canada’s oldest established school of Chinese Medicine. It is founded in 1970 in the city of Toronto by Dr. David Lam. Dr. Lam is one of the first doctors from China to teach Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Canada and he has been the Dean of ITCM for more than forty years.

The ITCM are providing a 10-course Acupuncture Training series for Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, Doctors, Naturopaths, Chiropodists, Occupational Therapists, Dentists and Nurses from all over Canada. The whole program is consists of 10 classes over a 12 month period. The courses are generally one month apart throughout the year, and not provided in the months of July and August. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a Diploma of Acupuncture for their scope of practice.

The TCM courses are taught by Tom Kiroplis and Marylou Lombardi with the help of 3 Physiotherapists, Len Kiroplis, Deoanand Persaud, and Elena Mustata. Tom Kiroplis is an experienced Acupuncturist who teaches physiotherapists, massage therapists as well as other health care professionals. Tom has practiced Acupuncture since 1997 when he earned a Diploma of Acupuncture from the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Toronto. Also, he has been the Vice President of the Ontario Acupuncture Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine since 1998. Marylou Lombardi, a Massage Therapist and licensed Acupuncturist since 1997 when she graduated from the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She was also the President of the Ontario Association of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from 1999 to 2008. Len Kiroplis has been in practice since 1994 after graduating from McMaster University. He has co-owned and operated Queen West Physiotherapy & Acupuncture, in Brampton, since 1998 as well as Albion Hills Physiotherapy, in Bolton, since 2006 with his brother, Tom Kiroplis. Deoanand Persaud has his Masters degree in Physical Therapy from University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science in Honours degree in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University. Elena Mustata received her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at University of Toronto in 2002. She has been  in Orthopaedic and Acupuncture practice since 2002 and the sole owner of ProHealth Physiotherapy in Mississauga, since 2005.
