Yahoo! Predicted to Gain Global Search Engine Market Share

MELBOURNE, Australia - Aug. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Yahoo! has been losing global market share among all search engines globally, but there are a number of factors that indicate that their decline will stop and return to a period of growth globally. Anton Stout, COO of World Copywriters (http://worldcopywriters.com/), makes the prediction based upon Marissa Mayer's strong early performance as CEO of Yahoo!, signs of instability in Google's market share, and the rise of "other" search engines globally.

Marissa Mayer has been at the helm of Yahoo! for one year as of July and has demonstrated an ability to make change at the company that has positively impacted revenue numbers. "In the coming quarters, you will start to see the impact on search market share," said Mr. Stout. Mrs. Mayer herself indicated in an interview with Bloomberg that increased traffic to Yahoo! property has erased losses from 2012.

In addition Google's market share has declined slightly through 2012 and into 2013. Instability among the market leader gives an opportunity for other search engine competitors to gain market share. Yahoo! is poised to take advantage of some of Google's declined with the changes that Mrs. Mayer and engineers at Yahoo! have implemented in search and their entire portfolio of online assets.

One example is Yahoo!'s recent acquisition of Rockmelt, a web browser with social media baked into the application. The focus on social media channels is going to increasingly push non-users to Yahoo! properties and ultimately acquire some of them as loyal consumers of Yahoo! products.

While Yahoo! and Google saw declines in 2012 and into 2013, Yandex and "other" search engines saw significant growth. Mr. Stout believes that the rise of "other" search engines is attributed to consumers looking for other options not not a shift in loyalty to other, lesser known, search engines. Mr. Stout said "consumers that are using other search engines won't stick around long. Ultimately, many of these consumers are going to settle on a major search engine such aside from Google who they just left such as Yahoo! or Yandex and Baidu regionally (http://www.worldcopywriters.com/blog/new-tricks-for-digit...)."
