Follow on Google News | Trucks of All Sizes to Converge on Carlisle PA Fairgrounds in AugustFrom Rigs to Monsters, Minis to Daily Drivers - The Carlisle Truck Nationals Has it All
By: Carlisle Events From sun up Friday until the final truck rolls off site Sunday, the Carlisle Truck Nationals really does offer something for everyone. There is a truck corral plus a swap meet. The Manufacturers Midway is loaded with industry-specific vendors like Ford Motor Company, Skyjacker Suspensions, Borla Performance Exhaust, Meguiar’s Car Care Products, Mickey Thompson Tires and Progressive Commercial Insurance just to name a few. In 2013, CustomVan.com returns as a sponsor of the van-specific showfield class, plus they'll host a special display on the east side of the grounds focused solely on the vanner lifestyle. Further, Ed Beard, Jr., a renowned airbrush artist, will join the group this year to help make over a van that will go from standard to anything but, all over the course of the weekend. The van display is just one popular aspect to the weekend. Returning is the LTAA, or Light Truck Accessory Alliance and they'll have some of the hottest and most popular aftermarket accessories available, plus the night sky lights up both Friday and Saturday via two very special light shows. First, Friday hosts the Big Rig Show and Glow. This display is made possible via the hundreds of over-the-road truckers that make Carlisle home for the weekend. With trucks onsite, owners fire up their rigs and showcase their light displays much to the enjoyment of the audience that gathers around the trucks. Special awards are made available for the trucks, plus live music takes the fun late into the night. In addition, Saturday sees the drop and drag competition take place on the north hill. Trucks that are quite the opposite of the big rigs, the mini and lowered trucks, take passes down the hill, drop their hydraulics or release their suspension air bags, to make sparks of varying colors. The massive crowds at Carlisle eat up the nighttime fun and help support this amazing weekend. Carlisle will also feature an off road course in 2013, perfect for truck owners who want to get a little mud on the tires. The course is located between the showfields and the Pennsylvania Turnpike and is made possible in part by Rausch Creek Off Road Park. The Carlisle Truck Nationals will also play a key role in a very special, multi-platform giveaway in 2013. Between the Carlisle Ford Nationals, Carlisle Truck Nationals and Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals, someone will be afforded the chance to win a two-year lease on a 2013 Ford Raptor. Registration takes place onsite and online with the winner being selected during the sports and outdoor weekend in September. Looking at trucks or shopping the midway aren't the only options for fun this year as the monster truck program returns with a father/son duo. Showcased in 2013 will be Stone Crusher and Hooked, driven by Steve Sims, Sr. and Jr. respectively. The trucks, along with Megasauras and the Virginia Giant ride truck anchor a very important part of the Carlisle Truck Nationals family-themed weekend. With shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday, enthusiasts have a bevy of options for car crushing entertainment. From shopping to Monster Trucks, special displays, burnouts, beauty, live music and more, the Carlisle Truck Nationals is the region's preeminent all-truck themed event.
