Follow on Google News | Korean War Veterans to Receive Commemorative Gift of Gratitude from Korean Industries & GovernmentKorean War 60th Commemoration to include first phase distribution of historical gift; Korean sponsorship alliance to present gift to all KW veterans; 500,000 to be distributed nationwide in cooperation with the Dept. of Defense KW60 Commemoration.
Funding for the large-scale gift was provided by an alliance of South Korean public and private sectors, led by the Ministry of Patriot and Veterans Affairs (MPVA), and the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI). Sixty years after the signing of the armistice agreement, Korea is now one of the most powerful economies in the world, having made the impressive rise from a donor recipient nation, to a giving nation with less than 3.5% unemployment. It is for this reason that the Federation of Korean Industries chose to become the funding source behind the largest gift of its kind to ever be presented to all veterans of a designated war period. “I fully agree that this project is worthwhile to pursue for the sake of strengthening the US-Korea relationship,” expresses Mr. Jin Haeng Chung, President of the Hyundai Motor Group based in Seoul. “We hope this opportunity will help to strengthen the alliance and cooperation between our two countries.” Remember My Service (RMS) Productions—a Division of StoryRock, Inc. based in Salt Lake City, Utah—is the producer and publisher of the commemorative DVD documentary (expected release date Fall 2013) and book entitled “Korea Reborn: A Grateful Nation Pays Tribute to the Veterans of the Korean War.” RMS will supervise distribution at ceremonies nationwide in commemoration of the “Year of the Korean War Veteran.” # # # End
