WASHINGTON - July 19, 2013 - PRLog -- A new report has found that the generic pharmaceutical sales and manufacturing industry is expected to see continued short-term growth, platformed by healthcare reform and an increase of patients who will have insurance coverage for prescription drugs. According to the report by the industry research firm IBISWorld, the $52.8 billion generic pharmaceutical industry will continue to outpace brand name prescription drug sales, growing at  an average annual rate of 5.4 percent.

It is critical for any candidate to acquire pharmaceutical product knowledge and pharmacology education to qualify for pharmaceutical sales opportunities. Acquiring a CNPR® Certification educates students on the regulations and guidelines for selling pharmaceuticals to physicians. It is also important to understand Managed Care so pharmaceutical sales reps can explain to physicians how patients can pay for prescriptions. Selling pharmaceuticals products to physicians is different than almost all other sales positions. The CNPR® training program educates students on the techniques that successful pharmaceutical sales reps utilize on a daily basis.

During the past several months, a number of generic copycat versions of expensive popular brand name drugs have been approved for pharmaceuticals sales by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including biosimilars for Boniva, Lipitor and Lexapro. Over the next few years, a number of best selling blockbuster-branded drug patents are also set to expire, helping to further stimulate industry sales.

Developed in response to a rising demand for certified pharmaceutical sales representatives, the nationally recognized online certification and CNPR® sales training program will provide individuals with the tools to gain entry-level jobs in the industry. Upon registering for the course, students will automatically gain membership with NAPSRx® and will become eligible to sit for the CNPR® national certification exam at no additional cost.

“There is a great demand for pharmaceutical sales reps, which means there is an equal need for solid training devices,” said Stephen Gatlin. “In short order, this program will become one of our most popular offerings. Pharmaceutical sales can be a very rewarding career, and the first step toward realizing that is completing the CNPR® entry level pharmaceutical sales course.”
