CARSON CITY, Nev. - July 18, 2013 - PRLog -- The Hot Rod Calc Elapsed Time Prediction and Performance Calculator is now available for Android and iOS smartphones. The Hot Rod Calc app is a powerful, fun and easy-to-use tool for bracket racers, hot rod and engine builders and bench racers. The original Hot Rod Calc handheld calculator garnered a Runner Up award in the New Products competition, Performance—Racing category at SEMA in 2010.

At the track, racers can see how weather and elevation will affect their times so they can instantly predict elapsed time and speed, using Motorsport Standard Atmosphere corrections. They can predict Elapsed Time and top speed for 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile runs. Inputs for track conditions include temperature, pressure, humidity, and elevation; inputs for the race vehicle include vehicle weight, horse power, frontal area, and drag coefficient. ET and trap speeds can be adjusted for wind speed and direction.

In the garage, engine builders and tuners can easily see how changes in a car’s engine and fuel system will affect performance and solve dozens of “what if” scenarios in seconds, including calculating compression ratio, engine displacement, carb size, volumetric efficiency, mill amount, horsepower, torque and more.

Other built-in functions include:

         ● Calculate engine displacement in cubic inches, liters or cc's.

         ● Calculate how changes in tire size affect gear ratio and speedometer.

         ● Automatically calculate brake horsepower given torque and RPM, or ET and vehicle weight, or MPH and vehicle weight.

         ● Calculate speed given vehicle weight and HP or tire diameter, gear ratio and RPM.

         ● Instantly see how changes to any of eight engine measurements can increase your compression ratio -- deck height, dome volume, chamber volume, gasket thickness, gasket bore, bore and stroke and/or milling the heads.

         ● Enter target engine displacement and current stroke to calculate the new bore, or enter displacement  and current bore to calculate new stroke.

         ● Calculate fuel correction index to determine new jet flow requirements.

         ● Built-in help, including Holley® jet specs – just press and hold the desired key for full, clear definitions, explanations and examples of keystrokes.
