July 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Today, Une Belle Vie Memorial Urns (mailto:www.decorative-urns.com), in partnership with iMortuary (http://www.imortuary.com/), released an infographic revealing how much funerals, memorials, cremations and other death care options cost from 1960 to 2010. The research revealed that funeral costs have increased 827 percent in the last 50 years.

The research tapped resources such as the Cremation Association of North America (CANA), the National Funeral Director’s Association (NFDA), NaturalFunerals.org, and information pulled directly from iMortuary’s funeral database. The infographic not only explored the monetary costs of funerals and cremation, but also addressed environmental impact as well.

“The increase in costs seems dramatic, but these days, people have more options when selecting a memorial for themselves or a family member,” said Melody Jamali, president and founder of Une Belle Vie Memorial Urns. “By using sites like iMortuary, Une Belle Vie and many more, consumers can now research their desired options before even stepping foot into the funeral home. This can save them money, but also make sure they select the options that will best memorialize their loved one.”

The infographic includes the following facts:

·      827 percent funeral cost increase from 1960 to 2010

·      87 percent of families can’t afford an unexpected funeral

·      $1,800 or more can be saved by pre-arranging a funeral

·      There are more than 22,500 cemeteries in the US

“Funeral planning in a “crisis mode” creates emotional and financial turmoil for the vast majority of families,” said Minda Brusse, principal of iMortuary. “For this reason, we continually advocate for advance funeral planning, and the funeral homes we endorse all provide pre-planning services.”
