DONCASTER, U.K. - July 16, 2013 - PRLog -- With the Royal baby and future heir to the Throne due any day now expectant mums and dads will be watching with baited breath to see what the country's most important baby will be wearing, travelling in and using!

And, whilst whatever Kate and William have chosen for their child will undoubtedly set trends, designing a nursery in your home is also about creating a personality and a welcoming, peaceful place for you and your baby.

"Designing a nursery should be an enjoyable part of pregnancy and should be part of the important preparations expectant parents make," commented Jeanette Holmes leading Yorkshire based interior designer. "And, whether you are planning for a boy, girl or waiting for a surprise my top tips should inspire you to make a room fit for your own heir!"

Jeanette suggests that a neutral base always works well and whilst blue is good for a boy and pink for a girl you could opt for a vibrant citrus scheme or subtle coffee and cream which will work perfectly whether your new arrival is a boy or girl. Furthermore, she recommends that parents also consider the position of furniture carefully considering which way is more comfortable for you to pick up and also change your baby?

Jeanette's top tips include:

Invest in good quality furniture that will grow with your child – a wardrobe with changeable rails or a chest of drawers that doubles as a changing unit and a cot that turns into a first bed.

Ensure that you plan plenty of storage into your scheme. Babies come with lots of things - nappies, clothes, bedding, toys etc...

A predominantly neutral scheme will mean that you can adapt the room more easily as your child grows introducing colour, designs and accessories.

If you are preparing the room before your arrival, ensure you leave plenty of space to accessorise and personalise once they are here.  Perhaps you could commission a piece of personalised art work.

If possible incorporate a chair or seating area where you can sit with your baby during the night – particularly useful for night feeds so as not to disturb a sleeping partner.

"As July continues to tick along the whole nation will be waiting to hear the Royal news," said Jeanette. "Just like any expectant parents though Kate and William will be excited and nervous but looking forward to this new chapter in their lives."

Jeanette, who is also interior designer to leading UK housebuilder Miller Homes (http://www.millerhomes.co.uk/Developments/Yorkshire/The-B...) Yorkshire, has recently completed a bespoke nursery at the housebuilder’s Lindley Park development located in Lindley, West Yorkshire.
