KISSIMMEE, Fla. - July 11, 2013 - PRLog -- Pride: 4

Comets: 2

KISSIMMEE, FL – It was a tale of two Sarahs Friday night at Osceola County Stadium as Sarah Pauly and the USSSA Pride faced off against Sarah Plourde and the NY/NJ Comets in a 4-2 Pride win.

The Comets jumped out to an early lead after a two-run homerun from Brittany McKinney in the first inning, but those would be the only NY/NJ runs for the rest of the night.

The Pride rallied back in the fifth inning, starting with a solo homerun from Ashley Charters. Natasha Watley scored on a sacrifice from Kristyn Sandberg, and then Caitlin Lowe scored on a single to left field from GiOnna DiSalvatore. The Pride scored their fourth run of the inning when Kelly Kretschman scored on a sacrifice fly from Francesca Enea.

NY/NJ came close in the seventh inning when Amanda Kamekona sent a ball to the center field fence, but Lowe was able to snag the ball before it went over.

Pauly finished the night with eight strikeouts and two walks, extending her record to 3-2 this season. Plourde pitched four innings before she was relieved by Lindsey Richardson in the fifth. Richardson allowed two runs on two hits and was replaced by Angel Bunner in the same inning. Bunner walked two Pride hitters and struck out one.

Friday’s win gave the Pride a 2-0 series lead against the Comets. The two teams face off in a double-header tomorrow at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Don’t miss live coverage on ESPN3.
