The “PLATS D’ARTISTES” exhibition in Hydra’s Historical Archives Museum

ATHENS, Greece - July 2, 2013 - PRLog -- Valmont, in cooperation with the Orloff Hotel and Spa Experts, the Historical Archives Museum in Hydra, and the Artigas Foundation, will present 30 ceramic master pieces at the Historic Archives Museum in Hydra from June the 29th to August the 11th. Celebrating the cradle of ceramics, i.e. Greece, dishes produced by artists, sculptors and poets from around the world will be on show. The exhibition’s contributors that marry curatorship, Spanish artistic initiative, a Swiss beauty brand, and the Orloff boutique hotel and spa experts, embrace the history of Greece through celebrating the dish, one of the first objects ever imagined and crafted by mankind.
As an item that has changed very little over the millennia, the dish is ever present in every culture and Joan Gardy Artigas keeps the tradition alive through the 30 contributors and theirr work. “The Plate, a precious link connecting us all” are the words that have been chosen to evoke the essence of this important exhibition. Gaining additional recognition in 1993, ceramics came into the spotlight when Joan Gardy Artigas hosted the creative works of painters, poets and sculptors in the foundation he opened in Barcelona, as a tribute to his father Joseph Llorens Artigas. Twenty years on, the Foundation partners with its collaborators to lend the Historical Archives Museum in Hydra, 30 master pieces which have inspired the Arts on a global scale.
Featuring works from artists such as Antoni Tapies, with his avant-garde style, Eduardo Chillida, known for his monumental metal sculptures, Barry Flanagan known for his bronze and iron creations, Roland Topor, known for his surrealism, and Frederic Amay, ceramics come to life once again.
Beauty also meets art at the pop – up Spa by Orloff Spa Experts (http://www.orloffspa.gr) on the 1st floor
of Historic Archives Museum in Hydra; a five star experience including Valmont’s facial spa treatments. The journey will continue aboard the fabulous Aegean Scahtz, on its cruise to the island of Hydra, followed by the exhibition and the pop – up SPA experience.
The “Magician of Time Greek Tour” also associates key actors of local pride to the artistic event.
