Louisville Orthopedic Dr. Stacie Grossfeld Honored by University of Louisville's School of Medicine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - June 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Louisville orthopedic Dr. Stacie Grossfeld received a special Departmental Award from the Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Louisville on Saturday, June 22, 2013.

One faculty member is chosen each year to receive this Departmental Award for dedication and service working with medical residents at the University of Louisville.

Issued by the University of Louisville School of Medicine's Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine, the Departmental Award recognizes a faculty member who offers excellence and dedication in training medical residents.

This year Louisville orthopedic Dr. Stacie Grossfeld with Orthopaedic Specialists (visit http://www.louisvillebones.com/grossfeld.htm) received this honor, presented by Department Chair Dr. Michael Ostapchuk. Dr. Grossfeld received the award at the graduation dinner and awards ceremony for the graduating class of 2013 from the University's Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine.

The graduation dinner and awards celebration was held on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The Muhammad Ali Center is a unique multicultural museum situated in the heart of downtown Louisville and dedicated to Muhammad Ali's life and legacy.

Award recipient Dr. Stacie Grossfeld is board certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). Dr. Grossfeld is also a graduate of the University of Louisville's School of Medicine. She completed her orthopedic residency at the University of Minnesota, and she also completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Fowler-Kennedy Sports Medicine Center.

Dr. Grossfeld's passion for the field of orthopedic medicine is exhibited in part by her strong commitment to supporting and mentoring medical residents in furthering their medical education, training and skills. Dr. Grossfeld worked with all eight of the graduating University of Louisville residents from the class of 2013. Each of the graduates completed a medical residency rotation at Dr. Grossfeld's private orthopedic practice. Dr. Grossfeld works at her Louisville orthopedic medical practice Orthopaedic Specialists, and she also serves as a clinical instructor in Orthopedic Medicine at the University of Louisville.

Medical student residents from the University of Louisville complete monthly orthopedic medicine rotations with Dr. Grossfeld to learn about orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.

Dr. Grossfeld greatly enjoys teaching students about the diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic medical conditions. Some of her areas of orthopedic medical specialty include knee and shoulder reconstruction and sports medicine.

This most recent Departmental Award is one of several special honors Dr. Grossfeld has recently received. Just as Louisville orthopedic Dr. Stacie Grossfeld has been recognized and honored by her medical colleagues at the University of Louisville, she is also keenly appreciated by many past and current patients.

In February 2013, Dr. Grossfeld was honored with the Patients' Choice Award, a special recognition for which just five percent of physicians and dentists qualify, based on patient reviews.

In addition, Dr. Grossfeld recently ranked in the Top 10 Orthopedic physicians in Louisville, Kentucky, based on the America Top 10. With nearly 100 orthopedic surgeons in the Louisville, Kentucky area, this Top 10 ranking comes as a tremendous honor.
