| VTU to Provide IEEE CS Technical Training to its StudentsVisvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), one of India's leading and largest technical universities, will be offering IEEE Computer Society software development certificates and training materials.
As the IEEE Computer Society's newest Registered Education Provider, VTU will provide its students with the SWEBOK Certificate Program (http://www.computer.org/ "This important collaboration is significant not only for the IEEE Computer Society and VTU but for the students who will be taking advantage of new learning options to further their technical education and become part of the global workforce," said Angela Burgess, IEEE Computer Society Executive Director. "We are looking forward to working with VTU to help advance the cause of technical education, be it through certificates, online courses, webinars, or standards development," The IEEE Computer Society (http://www.computer.org/ "The students and faculty of VTU engineering programs will benefit immensely from the IEEE Computer Society offerings, especially SCP, Computer Society Digital Library, e-learning courses, technical webinars, participation in upcoming standards' definition, and technical instructor-led courses custom made for VTU," said Professor H. Maheshappa, VTU vice chancellor. "The addition of these programs will enable VTU students to acquire knowledge to enhance their opportunities for employment and career progression globally." The IEEE Standards Association will conduct standards workshops at VTU to further student and faculty understanding of international standards development processes. The IEEE Educational Activities Board will conduct technical communication courses for engineering students and faculty, collaborate with VTU on projects, and establish an award for the best innovative idea. IEEE will also deliver a faculty development program. About Visvesvaraya Technological University VTU, named after Bharat Ratna Sir. M. Visvesvaraya, was established by the government of Karnataka in 1998 to promote technical education in the state. Headquartered in Belgaum, the university oversees 194 affiliated engineering colleges offering undergraduate courses in 28 disciplines and postgraduate courses in 71 disciplines. More than 1,800 students are registered for PhD degrees and more than 180 are registered for master's degrees in engineering.
