AUSTIN, Texas - May 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Executives from Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, Seton Healthcare, community leaders and the general contractor, The Beck Group, celebrated the ribbon cutting of the $48 million W.H. and Elaine McCarty South Tower at Dell Children’s Medical Center . The 3-story, 75,000 SF tower opened to the public on Saturday.     The third patient tower includes 72 beds, the center’s first inpatient rehabilitation unit and expanded services for children with epilepsy. The six-bed rehabilitation unit for seriously injured children is the first of its kind in the Austin area for hospitalized children. The epilepsy unit features state-of-the-art equipment, allowing the hospital to better serve its patients who travel worldwide for specialized treatment.     Constructed in just 15 months, the facility opens to the public two months earlier than originally scheduled. The addition is projected to receive the nation’s first Platinum certification under the new LEED for Healthcare (LEED-HC) rating system. Dell Children’s Medical Center was the first hospital in the world to achieve LEED Platinum certification under the LEED for New Construction rating system in 2007.     “Beck is proud to have been a part of adding much-needed capacity to this outstanding facility for the children of Central Texas,” said Matt Williamson, Managing Director at The Beck Group.
