State of Maine or IRS Unfiled Tax Returns - What are Allowable Moving Expenses - DWK Tax Group

The number one culprit that leads to out of control back tax debt is the inability for the taxpayer to file a Federal and State (if required) tax return on time. An unfiled tax return does not have a collection statute expiration date (10 years).

US-WIDE, US-wide - May 5, 2013 - PRLog -- That is correct, the Internal Revenue Service has 10 years to collect on a tax debt. Most State taxing authorities do not have a collection statute or the time allotted to collect is 20 years. If this scenario some what describes your situation do not count on the tax liability to simply go away...It will linger until fully addressed and what better way to proceed than to have representation speak for you on your behalf to ensure the taxpayer's rights are protected and exercised.

The struggling taxpayer will not have to speak to any agency bringing collection action again. A reasonable expectation for all the general public to understand is the mere fact, any and all IRS or State tax problem should be RESOLVED in no longer than 10 business days. The ball is put in the hands of the collection entity to make a confirmed decision via snail mail.

If your representation is constantly coming back to you for money with out any prior disclosure is the classic "bait & switch" game this industry is known for. So, be careful, conduct your due diligence and choose your representation wisely. Contact at least 3 companies that peak your interest, Google company name and insert the word complaints. This will give you a good starting point to veer or keep the course.

Spring is here and Summer tis the season to relocate should alternative job offers become accepted. The following may be useful for future reference.

Moving Expense Allowance

In order for moving expenses to be allowable it must be related to the start of work and the taxpayer must meet the distance and time test.

Distance test: Distance test requires that new job location is 50 miles from the former residence and the old job location

Time test: Requires that the employee work full time for at least 39 weeks during the first 12 months after arrival in the general job area. The taxpayer is allowed to work for more than one employer.

An individual who is self employed must meet this test and work for a total of 78 weeks during the first 24 months within the new job area.

Should a married couple file a joint return and both spouses are gainfully employed full time, either working spouse may satisfy the full time work test. Note, the couple cannot combine the number of weeks worked to satisfy the test.

if ready to make a conscious change to your approach to taxes, the key is a properly filed tax return, it is your ability to communicate what has taken place over the last year of required filings.
