![]() Poort Counter Tablet may be the first Internet ApplianceComputers, kitchens and counter areas have always been in conflict - until now. The advent of tablets enables compact and versatile options that are enduring, aesthetic, and highly entertaining.
By: Elevaed Inc. You might not, when a Poort is available. This new form factor for tablets is straightforward - mount a tablet inside a heavy aluminum housing, along with strong Bluetooth speakers and a USB power bus, then watch your free WiFi signal go to work pouring music and video into areas like kitchens or en-suites. Hang it over busy work counters and charge your cellphones from it, while deftly conserving space - it gracefully takes up its station. Intended as a fixed Web appliance, the Poort (Dutch for gateway) hides ugly cables and wall adapters, while drawing just 10 watts - and does duty as a night light if you leave it running. It has a 5 foot power cord if you prefer to just plug it in somewhere - the device is so versatile you'll find a cosy place for it. Its WiFi input creates no phone bills, and the Poort can relay its audio out to any Bluetooth device you have within range - so wear the headphones or feed your woofers if you prefer. But you likely won't, because the tidy speakers along the open bottom of the metal casing aren't squeakers - they're loud and clear. By concealing wall plugs with a fresh, uncluttered look the Poort brings strong aesthetics and addictive entertainment to a spare outlet, with the remaining plug still accessible. Two USB slots for recharging cellphones on its top ledge augment the tidy possibilities, with the enamel white casing promising years of solid stewardship for whichever 7-8" tablet you place inside it. The Poort is available as a kit ($159) for enclosing an existing tablet you may have, or complete with a supplied advanced tablet supporting WiFi and Bluetooth ($349). Installation is novel, in that it is utilizes 3M industrial mounting tape, which provides strong, rattle-free adhesion while avoiding the need to drill holes in expensive counter back-splashes. You can even mount on a bathroom mirror, for those long baths. Considering that you get these features and an advanced tablet for the price of a bare iPAD Mini, you may decide that this "appliance" better suits your needs for a kitchen, working or personal area. Meanwhile its value as a conversation piece and musical sous-chef? Priceless! Contact: info@poort.ca Photos: https://www.prlog.org/ https://www.prlog.org/ https://www.prlog.org/ End
