The Investment Analyst will be part of a 10 person investment team in hedge fund that manages $5.3 billion in assets. The Investment Analyst will
report to the Senior Portfolio Manager who oversees Real Assets (which
includes Natural Resources and Real Estate) and Fixed Income. The
Real Assets portfolio is 12% of total assets and consists of 26
private real estate funds, 24 private natural resource funds and two
hedge funds.

Real Estate Analyst  Hedge Fund Investment Team Responsibilities

Monitor and evaluate the fund managers in the Real Assets Portfolio
Understand the investment strategy and underlying assets in each fund
Create and maintain Excel models to track and project cash flows for
the funds and overall portfolio, as well as monitor investment and
geographic exposures of the underlying assets
Compare and evaluate fund and deal performance through IRR, return on
capital and benchmarking analytics
Stay current on fund activities through fund manager meetings, calls
and review of manager reports and letters
Prepare quarterly reports on portfolio performance, exposures,
liquidity and cash flows.
Assist with monthly and quarterly performance reporting and reconciliation
Identify and screen prospective fund managers through qualitative and
quantitative analysis and portfolio fit
Research, prepare and write investment papers which outline the trends
in commodities, such as energy, and real estate. Be able to formulate
a view on the investment risks and opportunities
Network with institutional peers and managers to stay on top of
investment trends and discover compelling investment opportunities

Passion for investing, natural curiosity and desire to understand the
financial markets
Background in natural resources and real estate is not necessary, but
must have strong interest in learning about these sectors
Self starter, ability to take initiative and see project to completion
Bachelors degree and financial or consulting experience of two to three years
Financial modeling skills and general knowledge of portfolio theory,
private equity and capital markets.

Real Estate Analyst Hedge Fund Investment Team Role:
Strong academic background, which includes quantitative coursework
Outstanding analytical and communication skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize projects, and collaborate on a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications supported by
sophisticated use of Excel
