Streamline the Auditing Process for Greater Productivity, According to QC Software

The Tier-1 Warehouse Control System’s auditing application is designed to optimize productivity and order accuracy.

CINCINNATI - April 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Targeted auditing of orders not only saves time and money, it reduces theft and fraud.

A Tier-1 Warehouse Control System provides a comprehensive inventory management solution that efficiently tracks all items throughout the warehouse. A dynamic inventory application is the foundation for all warehouse floor operations including receiving, putaway, replenishment, routing, cycle counting, etc. It uses state-of-the-art technology to identify each item by several characteristics for pinpoint accuracy during the order fulfillment process.

For the distributor, this system also offers a configurable tool for managing the audit process according to company-specific business rules. Distributors have the option of auditing orders by SKU, weight, customer, picker, shipping location, storage location, sales agent, random inspections, etc. This helps limit the number of audits while ensuring quality control.

“The Tier-1 Warehouse Control System provides an integrated solution to order management. As order information is updated, changes are made throughout the system and reports can quickly be generated and distributed. For an efficient audit process, the warehouse should have a dedicated conveyor lane and audit station,” states Rich Hite, President of QC Software, a leading provider of warehouse control solutions in North America.

A well-equipped audit station consists of a computer, scanner and printer so the auditor can quickly review and resolve issues. As cartons are diverted for inspection, the auditor scans the carton label or order number and contents. The warehouse control system provides an auditing screen that displays discrepancies. As the auditor makes inventory adjustments, the data is automatically updated in the warehouse control system and the information is sent to the corporate host.

With a dedicated lane, these orders are moved to a separate location to prevent a slow down or stoppage of the fulfillment process. As issues are flagged, the system automatically diverts cartons for manual inspection. Distributors generally audit when the wrong product has been packed, a carton’s weight is out of tolerance, the label misprints, and the order is incomplete. They also schedule random audits for quality assurance.

Auditing can resolve issues with specific inventory, locations, shippers or personnel.  If audit reports indicate that SKU X is often short picked, managers will purchase more.  When an individual picker is associated with missing inventory over a period of time, the warehouse manager can audit his orders, determine if theft has occurred, and eliminate the problem.

The warehouse control system’s auditing tool streamlines quality control and increases profitability.
