NANTUCKET, Mass. - April 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Nantucket Island, MA (April 22, 2013) The Egan Maritime Institute announces “Red, Right, Returning”:  Present Day USCG Lifesaving Procedures and Boat Safety, at the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum from May 23 – October 14, 2013.  This outdoor exhibition features present day Coast Guard lifesaving procedures, an everyday guide to boat safety and a recreational four-person life raft for both children and adults to “try out” on the grounds of the museum.

Back by popular demand, last year’s exhibit “Guiding Lights:  Nantucket’s Lighthouses, Keepers, and their Families is featured, as well.  With displays from 2012, this much loved exhibition also includes brand-new surprises and additional, hands-on activities for all.

The Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum shares the fascinating stories of yesterday’s maritime heroes through permanent and changing interpretive exhibits and special events. The Museum houses a collection of over 5,000 objects, including surfboats, beach carts, vintage photographs and more, a silver medal awarded to Marcus W. Dunham for his role in several rescues during the Great Gale of 1879; a taping of Mr. Rogers and “Madaket Millie”; an interactive shipwreck map; and a whimsical Newfoundland dog chair created by ‘Sconset’ artist, Clara Urbahn.
