| Winners of Game Showcase to Receive IEEE-CS MembershipsTop winners will receive recognition, awards and IEEE Computer Society Student memberships at the GameSIG 2013 Intercollegiate Game Showcase on Saturday, 27 April.
GameSIG will take place at University of California Irvine's Donald Bren Hall from 2-4 p.m. Ten finalist teams made up of undergraduate students will take to the stage to demonstrate the games they designed. Contestants include student teams from Chapman University, California State Polytechnic University Pomona, California State University Fullerton, California State University San Bernardino, Laguna College of Art and Design, Mount Sierra College, Norco College, UC Irvine, and Westwood College. A panel of top game industry leaders will serve as the judges for the competition, rating winning games based on originality, creativity, execution, and commercial viability. The top team will receive the Student Game Cup, which will reside at the winning team's university until GameSIG 2014. Other winners will receive IEEE Computer Society memberships. "This is an exciting event for computer science students, industry professionals, and game enthusiasts alike. It not only showcases innovation and talent, it offers a glimpse into the future of gaming," said John Keppler, IEEE Computer Society manager of certification and professional education programs.
