By: Smartex Limited Held in Missenden Abbey on the 5th & 6th March, the conference featured speakers from Salford University, Buckinghamshire New University, Blackwell’s, Queen’s University Belfast and Tecnológico de Monterrey University, among others. Exhibitors included MULTOS, Salto Systems, Nedap, Dot Origin, Biostore, Burall InfoSmart, MCR Systems, Uniware, TDS, EMOS Information Systems, Counter Solutions, G4S, CELCAT, Card Commerce, IDXtra, LEGIC Identsystems, Magna Carta Chipcard Solutions, Payne Security, Salto Systems, Live Register, sQuidcard and TDS. Over 80 delegates were in attendance over the course of the two-day event, the latest in a successful series of annual events run by the Higher Education Smart Card Association (HESCA). Richard Poynder, Chairman, commented “I was delighted with the support we received for this event, both from exhibitors and from HEI delegates. Smart campus card schemes are now being widely used to provide automated and user-friendly support for critical functions such as attendance recording/monitoring and cashless campus. Our delegates heard from experienced practitioners across the spectrum of applications, and gained a huge amount of useful and practical tips and recommendations in this complex and fast-moving area, where mobiles will soon supersede cards as the form factor of choice, associated in all probability with biometric authentication.” The next quarterly HESCA meeting will take place on 4th June at Le Meridien Hotel, Piccadilly, London.
