Flexibility of a Fuse & the Integrity of a Breaker with E-T-A's 2216-S

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. - March 25, 2013 - PRLog -- E-T-A Circuit Breakers is pleased to announce the 2216 thermal-magnetic circuit breaker – the initial circuit breaker available in its new platform for automation architectures. The new platform is based on technology that offers interchangeability of circuit breaker technology or current ratings without the need to touch any wiring or the associated power distribution busbar system.

The interchangeability is accomplished through E-T-A’s unique circuit breaker and socket concept. The circuit breaker functionality will reside in the 2216 – a 12.5 mm pluggable device that is inserted into a terminal block base. The terminal blocks are available in two configurations: traditional screw terminal (81plus) and newly developed push-In spring loaded version (80plus). The two-piece design makes it possible for the terminal blocks to be designed in on the front end of the project while allowing the circuit breakers to be installed later in the design when all of the field loads are defined – which avoids any unnecessary rework of the control panel.

Specifications:
The 2216 is available in one and two pole configurations and three characteristic curve types (F1 – 2-4 times Rated Current, F2 – 3-6 times Rated Current, M1 – 6-12 times Rated Current). The 2216 is rated to AC 277 V/ DC 80 V and offers a current range from 0.5 – 16 A. Normally open and normally closed integrated auxiliary contacts are available when necessary.

Approvals:
The 2216-S carries IEC EN 60934, UL 1077 and UL 508 making it suitable for international use.

Applications:
Typical applications for the 2216 include: Large process applications (power & energy controls, oil & gas processing, food & beverage process) and general automation applications including: (automotive production, packaging machines, SCADA/RTU applications).
