Thirteen year old Sonoma County girl raises $15,000 for local charity!

HEALDSBURG, Calif. - March 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Thirteen year old Riley Flanagan, an eighth grade student at Sonoma County Day School (SCDS), hosted a wine dinner in Healdsburg, CA, on March 13 to benefit the "The Community Child Care Council of Sonoma County" (aka "4Cs").   4Cs runs 12 Sonoma County pre-schools for over 550 children from lower income families (http://www.sonoma4cs.org).  The event was sponsored by Flanagan Wines (www.flanaganwines.com), Baci Cafe and Wine Bar (www.bacicafeandwinebar.com) and Alain-Martin Pierret.  The event brought together 75 people from across Sonoma County and raised $15,000 net for 4Cs.

Melanie Dodson, Executive Director of 4Cs, expressed her gratitude saying, "You can imagine our surprise when we got a phone call out of the blue offering to help us raise money.  It took us quite a while to figure out Riley was thirteen and not thirty!"

Brad Weaver, head of school for SCDS, attended the event and said, "Riley has put into action our core values of leadership, entrepreneurship, and service to our community.  We are all really proud of Riley."

In a beautiful speech that belied her age, Riley thanked her sisters Lola and Ruby saying, "It was having Lola and Ruby as sisters that taught me to love little children and made me want to do something to help."  She also thanked her parents Eric and Kit, Lisbeth Holmefjord of Baci Café & Wine Bar, Alain-Martin Pierret, E. R Sawyer Jewelers and all the people from 4Cs who do so much for the children of Sonoma County.
