Acupuncture will relieve your sciatica pain!

Sciatica may be caused by compression or irritation of one of five spinal nerve roots, or irritation of the sciatic nerves. Symptoms include lower back pain, buttock pain, and pain, numbness or weakness in various parts of the leg and foot.

March 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Sciatica is a relatively common form of low back pain. It is a set of symptoms rather than a diagnosis for what is irritating the root of the nerve, causing the pain. The treatment for sciatica or sciatic symptoms often differs, depending upon the underlying cause and pain levels.

Causes include compression of the sciatic nerve roots caused by a herniated (torn) or protruding disc in the lower back. Sciatica can also occur during pregnancy as a result of the fetus' weight pressing on the sciatic nerve during sitting or during leg spasms.

Sciatica is generally caused by the compression of the nerves in the lower back, or by compression of the sciatic nerve itself.

Acupuncture treatment for sciatica pain will include treatment at the low back itself, and the Acupuncturist may use electrical stimulation to further promote the healing process of the inflamed or pinched nerve. There will also be a combination of stretches and strengthening exercises that will be provided for you to continue treatment at home, and even after the pain has dissipated. Our Acupuncturist also is skilled in the Chinese Balancing Technique with acupuncture, meaning instead of inserting the acupuncture needles locally to the back, he can locate pain receptors in other parts of the body away from the back, to create a "yin/yang" effect and heal from further away.
