Wildflower Favours Aim to Promote the Growth of Wildflower Plants

March 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Wildflower Favours is an online shop setup by Teresa Sinclair to help promote the growth of wildflower plants throughout the UK. Over the past decade the British countryside has slowly started to diminish as 98% of Britain’s wildflower meadows have disappeared due to the use of pesticides, herbicides and intensive farming methods.

It is estimated that there is just 1,000 hectares of wildflower meadows left in the UK which has had a negative effect on British wildlife. Teresa explained, “The brown hare, harvest mouse and blue butterfly depend on the meadow and grassland habitats for their survival, decline in these habitats has resulted in a dramatic decline in their numbers”.

Some British wildflowers are now protected under the 1981 Wildflower and Countryside Act as they have become so scarce.

In order to prevent the number of wildflowers from diminishing even more the best course of action is to plant more wildflowers, which is why Wildflower Favours was setup.

Wildflower favours create and sell bespoke, handmade wedding favours and stationery. Their products include ‘save the date’ cards, menus, invitations and favours.

Their favours provide an alternative to more traditional products including chocolates and other small gifts.  The seed packets themselves are personalized and have a ‘rustic’ or ‘vintage’ feel.

All of these products are available to buy online and the wildflower favour seed favours start from as little as £1.50 per packet. Where possible all products are made from recycled paper and post-consumer waste. Further to this only UK-grown wildflower seeds are used from wildflowers that are native to the UK.

Teresa also runs a wildflower nursery, The English Cottage Garden Nursery, which is a small nursery located in Kent.  A wide variety of wildflowers are grown here and people are able to purchase wildflower seeds, meadow seed mixes, bird food and seeded paper.
