Himalayan Travel Leader Goes Trekking in Nepal’s Hidden Tsum Valley

One World Trekking announces confirmed departure into one of the Himalaya’s sacred Buddhist valleys on November 17 to December 8, 2013.

ASPEN, Colo. - March 11, 2013 - PRLog -- There are not many recently-opened and little-traveled regions remaining in the Himalayas, but the sacred Buddhist valley of Tsum north central Nepal is certainly among them. One World Trekking’s new 22-day Sacred Tsum Valley Trek will be run as a true exploratory journey. During this moderately-challenging itinerary, the One World group will explore the upper reaches of this unique and off-the-beaten path Tibetan sanctuary. The trails here pass through small Buddhist villages that have changed little over the centuries.

“This new trekking adventure represents one of the greatest hiking opportunities in Nepal. One World continually strives to offer off-the-beaten path hikes into remote and culturally interesting regions of this beautiful country,” states Andy Crisconi, OWT founder and director.

The Sacred Tsum Valley Trek begins in the colorful capital of Kathmandu. Located in north-central Nepal, surrounded by giant snow-capped peaks, Tsum is one of the eight sacred valleys (called Beyuls) in the inner Himalayas. Saturated with Buddhist culture, the Tsum Valley offers hikers the opportunity to observe ancient Buddhist values and witness a lost way of life. Tsum valley is inhabited by Tsumbas, an indigenous community and the landscape is dotted with mani walls, chortens and kaanis (gateway chortens). This brand-new trekking journey enters a recently-opened corner of the great Nepal Himalaya. The 2013 group departure date is November 17 to December 8.
