Reality Is Relevant. Really? What Is Reality? "Infinite Possibilities" Proven Science

I am to everyone that has known me for a while, known to study my fellow humans a lot. I work primarily from home, have a curious mind, and rule very little out. So finding an interview with a neuroscientist that exhaustively studied some fringe science was of interest to me. Pediatrician and neuroscientist Dr. Melvin Morse began studying near death experiences in children in the mid 1990’s. Children, says Dr Morse, lie poorly, if at all. This study took him down some interesting rabbit holes. In this brief article I hope to encourage some of you to Google his name and investigate this for yourselves.

In 1994 Dr Morse was working in an emergency room. An 8 year old girl came in, she had drowned. Underwater for 18 minutes many doctors would have just “called it”. Dr Morse was young and wanted to make every effort to revive this young girl. He worked on her for almost another 20 minutes, and to his surprise she woke up. After becoming stable and out of danger Dr Morse and this child had a conversation that changed his life forever. She described not only in great detail, but in some cases, medical detail what had gone on in that room before she was revived. This went against everything he had learned. All thought comes from the brain, and a brain is dead after just a few minutes without oxygen. Where did these thoughts and observances come from? Is there something about us that thinks other than the brain?

Ok readers. Before you think I’m going down some metaphysical path of crystal skulls and talking to dead people, let me talk about what I found most important about the hour and a half interview. Infinite possibilities and the science behind them. He used something even a mind like mine could understand.

Infinite possibilities is what use to be a theory, now proven science. Do you remember seeing a video of some young people dancing for a moment? The music stopped and the caption at the bottom asked “Did You See The Gorilla”? Well I did not. After twenty years in the spook business I consider myself very observant. You see what happened was my mind did not tell my eyes it was possible to see a gorilla so my eyes were not allowed to see it. Infinite possibilities would mean I can see everything without my mind blocking anything. If you’re a thinker I just got your attention. This is what the Asian mystics, and Indian gurus are meditating about. I never bought into that before, but Dr Morse has proven scientifically this is real. So you see, our reality is just that. OURS! It has little to do with what is actually going on around us. Dr Morse has proven a few things that are now part of medical fact.

1.We use about 10% of out thinking capacity. That tells us what reality is. We really have little idea about what”all” is happening around us. Can you imagine what we would know and see if we used say just 15%. Our reality would be totally changed. I believe we’d be less petty and care about each other more.

2.That Near Death Experiences are real and have been scientifically proven, had peer revue, and published in the most prestigious medical publications. This was important to me. The internet is full of ideas and craziness. I always look for the proper credentials, and pedigree before taking too much time on a subject.  

3.That the medical community is still open to learning as long as studies are done properly and by respected individuals. This gave me hope. Sometimes I worry that knowledge filtration will keep us from cures.

I am very aware of the power of where we get our realities. I learned quickly through politics, mostly presidential politics, that reality can be fooled. When two people have totally different realities because they get their reality from the media of choice, I know that most likely, neither has a firm grasp on what is really going on. Yet they would scream at the top of their voices they do.

I found hope and am excited about expanding my “eyesight ability” in the near future. My question of what is real or not remains unanswered. But exploring deeper is in my nature. I can’t wait to see what I don’t see. The trick is “Never Rule Anything Out”.
