Dec. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Woodside, the stunning country house venue, has a long and illustrious history, and in its position on the outskirts of Kenilworth, has become one of the most desired leisure venues in Warwickshire. The earliest record of the property comes in 1886, when Mr James Randles Esq purchased the property, before selling shortly after this to The Reverend Henry Cunliffe, who still boasts a bar named after him at the house to this day.

From Rev. Cunliffe, Woodside passed to auction in Birmingham in 1889, and among its selling points, was described as being adjacent to the seat of Lord Leigh, Stoneleigh Abbey Estate. It was also described as a ‘small residence’, with an entrance lodge at the top of the drive, and six spacious rooms. The outbuildings were described in the auction details as a stable, saddle room and coach house, but they are now fondly known as the Parson’s Folly bar. The Cay family were the next people to come into ownership of Woodside, with Mr Albert Cay paying just £5,750 for the honour of being the property’s landlord. The house stayed with the Cay family until 1941, until it was agreed to be sold to Courtaulds for a mere £5,500. At this point, the house found its calling as a country house meeting venue, and provided training for management teams and supervisors; something Woodside still does today.

Where Woodside was once described as a ‘small residence’ with six rooms, the house now boasts 20 separate meeting and function rooms, 74 guest bedrooms and is situated in 32 acres of stunning grounds. There are extensive kitchens, manned by top chefs crafting local produce and Fairtrade products into the most exquisite meals, which are then served in The Orchard Restaurant or one of the other dining rooms. A spacious indoor swimming pool, a sauna and fitness suite have also been added to the house in recent years, meaning that Woodside is not just a Warwickshire conference venue, but also a luxury spa destination.

Staying at Woodside also offer unparalleled access to some popular attractions in the area. The house is located just 11 minutes away from Warwick, where some of the country’s most loved leisure pursuits and tourist attractions reside. Warwick Racecourse is home to a great number of races throughout the year and attracts visitors from the world over, while the stunning Warwick Castle is truly the jewel in the crown of the whole county. The historic town also has a range of museums and old mills that can be explored, and with such picturesque settings, has become a popular destination for weekend breaks or special occasions.
