Zappien releases "If You Can Find Me"

Oct. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Montreal, Canada - It all began for Carlos Zappien at the age of 5 when he learned how to play the violin.  By the time he reached 13, he had already added bass and guitar into the mix.  Growing up listening to a wide variety of music from metal to The Beatles and seeing his uncles play in garage bands he knew early on what his life was going to be dedicated to.  At 15, he charted a career path that would allow him to pursue a music career without waiting to be discovered by a big label.  His love for funk, dance and electronic music along with his knack for creating beautiful harmonies bring an upbeat modern flavor to the overall sound of the band.   Born in Mexico City and after graduating from University in El Paso Texas, Carlos continues his quest in search for the elusive independent music scene and chooses romantic Montreal as his home base.  In 2008 he formed the rock band Zappien whose members include Carlos Zappien (keyboard/vocals/lead guitar/producer), Sevy Plant (drums/synths/vocals), Ciaran Wynne (Guest guitar), Mélanie Dion (Guest Alto Sax and brass section leader) and a group of guest musicians who bring a plethora of rich sound to the band.  

They produce a blend of rock, jazz, pop, blues with a bit of electronic wonder making their sound authentic, which can be categorized as Progressive New Age Rock.  Carlos and Sevy bring their personal and creative styling into an organic mix of guitar, bass, vocals and synths.  Their songs are delicately crafted and reflect Carlos' challenges and experiences: overcome being an outcast and endure bullying in school, grow up strong and self-reliant, fall in and out of love, all of these which any listener can immediately relate to, handheld while being told a musical story at times soft at times hard but always entertaining.

Zappien's music is influenced by classic, modern rock, blues, dance, electronic and R&B.  Artists that have played a major role in their evolution are The Beatles, Radiohead, Muse, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Deep Purple, Offenbach, Michael Jackson, Bloc Party, El Tri, Soda Stereo, Guns 'n' Roses, Frank Zappa, Robert Charlebois, Queen and on and on.  With their fresh sound, Zappien is challenging current rock standards.

In February 2012, the group released their first single "Hold Me Closer" off their debut self-titled CD receiving great reviews.  Now with the digital and physical release of their CD "ZAPPIEN" comes a new lead single titled "If You Can Find Me".  This single reflects on the Shakespearean revolving continuum of being loved by someone we do not love and loving someone who doesn't love us.  Visually, through their video, they have combined fast-paced David-Lynch/Guy-Ritchie imagery where a dream cannot be discerned from reality using a combination of bright and dark images full of metaphors always in synch with the same attention to detail which brought them to polish their sound at Abbey Road Studios in London UK.   This song is upbeat, filled with great layers of guitar, drums, electronics and vocals.  

Digital release of their debut is October 20, 2012.  CD and the Vinyl release is set for November 15, 2012.  

There is plenty to love about Zappien.  Their music is melodic, funky, electronically exhilarating with plenty of riffs and hooks to rock audiences.
