Online Healthcare Certification Provider Launches New Heart Disease Facts Special Section
By: Health Education Solutions
Oct. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Because the incidence of heart disease remains a significant health concern in the United States, it has become vitally important for healthcare professionals and first responders to understand the impact this deadly disease has on the delivery of emergency care. To help these professionals stay updated on heart disease information and statistics, Health Education Solutions (HES), a leading provider of online healthcare certification courses, today released a Heart Disease Facts special section. This series of educational articles is available in HES’ research library at www.HealthEdSolutions.com.

“Whether you are an emergency room nurse, a doctor in private practice or a first responder, awareness of the heart disease facts and trends that may influence your delivery of care is essential,” said Melissa Marks, president of HES. “At Health Education Solutions, we aim to arm these lifesaving professionals with the data they need to stay informed and the training they need to remain equipped to save lives.”

According to the American Heart Association, Americans’ cardiovascular health is “less than ideal.” More than two-thirds of American adults and nearly one-third of American children are overweight or obese. Between 1971 and 2004, average calorie consumption increased by 22 percent in women and 10 percent in men. Furthermore, growing numbers of adults and children are not meeting recommended levels of physical activity. While the most recent statistics show that the death rate from cardiovascular diseases fell 30.6 percent from 1998 to 2008, cardiovascular diseases still account for one in three deaths in the U.S.

To help healthcare professionals and first responders prepare to respond to cardiovascular emergencies, HES offers an advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification course and a pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certification course—both available online. Professionals preparing for the ACLS exam also have the option of taking the American Heart Association’s HeartCode ACLS Part 1 course. Online recertification courses are also available.

HES additionally offers basic life support (BLS) for healthcare providers, stroke certification, bloodborne pathogens training and first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training courses. Courses are offered in a convenient online format and are a flexible option for busy healthcare professionals and first responders with nontraditional schedules.

For healthcare professionals and first responders who are preparing for the ACLS and PALS exams, HES offers a series of certification and recertification practice tests and quizzes. Available for $35, practice tests are similar to the ACLS and PALS exams, offering 50 timed, multiple-choice questions. Practice quizzes, which are available for free, each include five sample questions.

HES’ online research library offers more heart diseases information, as well as resources for career growth, data about healthcare trends and news related to healthcare and first responder certification.
