CMS Intelliteach Completes ISO 27001 Information Security Management Certification

Risk and security management focused certification complies with international standards

Sept. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- CMS Intelliteach today announced that they have implemented an ISO 27001 certified management system for its Service Desk offering. ISO 27001 is an international standard that defines an Information Security Management System (ISMS) and provides guidance on 133 security controls that are applied to processes in the certified organization.

The ISO 27001 certification helps enable CMS Intelliteach to achieve operational excellence and maximize customer trust and confidence in the Company's IT infrastructure and security capabilities. The international certification ensures that Intelliteach’s systems and processes are well documented, including periodic compliance audits on behalf of its law firm business partners.

According to Michael Burnette, CMS Intelliteach’s CTO and certification lead, the law firm service desk provider chose to complete the ISO 27001 certification for two primary reasons: “We have a longstanding commitment to uphold the confidentiality and security of our clients’ information and work product, as we are an extension of their own internal operations. In addition, ISO 27001 is very prevalent in the UK and European markets, so it made a lot of business sense to embrace this certification as part of our ongoing expansion. We believe the standard is continuing to proliferate into the US and we have witnessed the standards being adapted by several large US based clients. “

ISO 27001 Certification ensures that CMS Intelliteach has:
•   Documented and tested disaster recovery and business continuity procedures
•   Complied with regulatory rules and legislation in every applicable jurisdiction
•   Risk measurement including asset identification, valuation, and risk assessment& acceptance criteria
•   Demonstrated continued improvement in the management and effectiveness of its security management processes
•   Ensured the availability of its information systems 24/7

CMS Intelliteach spent roughly 8 months working to develop and maintain the certification, preparing the necessary documentation and process changes required for successful operation of the ISMS required by the ISO 27001 certification.  An internal audit and a two-phase certification audit by an external accredited independent certification body occurred in order to complete certification and will continue each year.
