**Executive Decree No. 343 of May 16, 2012, creates a new Permanent Resident Immigration Category and subcategory Permanent Resident Foreign National for specific countries with which there are relations that are friendly, professional, economic and relating to investment in Panama.

Countries that fall into this new immigration category are: Germany, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Spain, the USA, Slovakia, France, Finland, the Netherlands, Ireland, Japan, Norway, The Czech Republic, Switzerland, Singapore, Uruguay, Chile and Sweden.

Foreigners applying for this permit, which is designed to promote economic or professional activities of any kind, must meet the requirements of Article 28 of Decree Law No. 3 of February 22, 2008, and provide: – Documentation showing the purpose of requiring permanent residence, such as the economic or professional activity to be performed. – Proof of economic solvency of the applicant, which must be demonstrated by providing bank certificates or account balance statements within the last month that reflects at least four figures or other means to prove their income and that is acceptable to the National Immigration Service.

The applicant may include in their application as dependents, their spouses, children under 18, families with disabilities and dependent parents. A request can be made to include children over 18 years and up to 25 years as dependents, if they prove that they are in a regular study program and are under the applicant’s financial dependence.
