Sept. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Millions of Americans who qualify for Medicare are now utilizing the Internet to get cost quotes and find knowledgeable experts in Medicare Supplement Insurance, also commonly called Medigap insurance.

To help connect interested consumers with insurance agents and professionals, the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance (AAMSI) http://www.medicaresupp.org has launched a national online directory of agents and brokers offering these products.

“We receive calls from consumers and the leading question is who can I speak with who understands this topic and will educate me,” explains Jesse Slome, executive director of the AAMSI, a trade group supporting insurance professionals who market Medigap insurance.   “To make the process easier and available 24/7 we decided to launch an online directory where consumers could find agents in their city or state.”

Medicare provided health insurance to some 50 million Americans.  Most are those age 65 and older though roughly eight million are younger people with disabilities.  “In general all people age 65 or older who are legal residents of the US are eligible for Medicare,” Slome says.  “Medicare has four parts and while it covers an enormous amount of the potential health care cost, it does not cover everything which is why many people opt for additional private Medicare supplement insurance coverage.”

The nation’s leading insurance companies offering Medicare Supplement insurance include United HealthCare, which offers coverage in most states through AARP, United of Omaha Life, Aetna Life Insurance Company and Humana Insurance Company.  A large number of insurance companies only offer coverage in a limited number of states.

The American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance was established to advocate for the importance of planning and to support insurance and financial professionals who market Medigap insurance.  To learn more about and obtain Medicare Supplement insurance costs http://www.medicaresupp.org/agents.php call the organization’s offices at (818) 597-3205 or visit the Association’s website.
