The daring program of 21st century music for solo violin, violin with electronics and violin and cello features 3 World Premieres and 3 New York Premieres with composers present.

Sept. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- On Friday, September 28th at 8PM, the Firehouse Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn will present American violinist Sarah Plum – winner of the Stulberg International Violin competition – who will invite the audience to venture into the outer edges of contemporary music for violin, with a daring program titled “Parameters of Sound.”

Dedicated to music written in the past five years, “Parameters of Sound” will bring forth three World Premieres and three New York premieres by a host of composers including Christopher Adler, Christopher Burns, Matthew Burtner, Sidney Corbett, Laurie Schwartz and Mari Takano. The array of works on offer– many of which were written for Plum – range from solo violin, violin with electronics, and duo for violin and cello, to trio for violin, electronics and recorded sounds.  For some works, Plum will be joined by cellist Jonathan Ruck, composer Matthew Burtner on electronics and composer Christopher Adler performing piano accompaniment to his concerto.

Violinist Sarah Plum’s notable performing career has earned her a reputation as a modern music specialist for her numerous collaboration with composers and appearances at a myriad of festivals such as the as the Luzern Festival, Archipel, Ars Musica, and the Festival d'Automne Paris, to name a few. Her latest CD “ABSCONDITUS,” which featured music by Plum’s long-time collaborator, composer Sidney Corbett, was labeled a “Gem” by the American Record Guide, and applauded for “a wealth of colour and a surprising range of sounds" by Gramophone Magazine.

The repertoire selection for the evening reflects Plum’s collaborations with the composers whose music she has been advocating, most notable of which is Sidney Corbett.  His two works to be presented on the program : Archipel Chagall 1 for Solo Violin and Absconditus for Violin and Cello were recorded by Plum a year earlier, with the later work having been written for her.  The concert also offers a preview of a new violin concerto by Christopher Adler currently being written for Plum, with its second movement being performed on the program.

The complete program is as follows:
