On Site Energy provides ultra-quiet Water Cooled Chiller while building's permanent chiller is down

Sept. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- When a Building Management firm called On Site Energy on Thursday afternoon, and explained they suffered a major failure of the building’s 275 ton Carrier water cooled chiller, Patrick French from On Site Energy met the customer at the building one hour after he received the call.

The Obstacles
The buildings electrical service was 208 volts, and was not of sufficient size to operate an air cooled chiller.  Air cooled chillers are typically provided as short term “fixes” while repairs are under way.  The building utilizes well water for the condenser circuit.

The buildings affected were right next door to a large apartment complex, and the Town advised the Landlord not to run generator sets, for fear of noise and fume issues.

Rental Solutions Simplified
On Site Energy recommended a 100 ton air cooled chiller as a short term fix, so the building could operate on Friday with some level of air conditioning, using the limited amount of power available.  The 100 ton air cooled chiller was delivered Thursday evening and hooked up by the mechanical contractor.   On Saturday morning, the 100 ton air cooled chiller was removed and a 225 ton Trane water cooled chiller was connected.

Using Trane’s ultra-quiet water cooled chiller, and a step up transformer to provide 480 volt power to the chiller; the buildings were able to function normally when the tenants arrived Monday morning.
