How Do You Hypnotize a Chicken?

When you learn to do something, it is important to do it right and really learn the process. Hypnosis is no different. "I am not sure why you would want to hypnotize a chicken, perhaps to encourage it to lay more eggs, or to get out when the cage is open so it will truly be a cage free chicken," laughed Mark V. Johnson, the lead instructor at Good Vibes Hypnosis. Mark is a Certified Master Trainer with IACT, a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, and a Second Generation Hypnotherapist.

Growing up around hypnosis, he always felt it was natural, and never had any misconceptions about hypnosis. "I watched Dad hypnotize many different people as a child, and he used it in his medical practice, so I never had a negative view of hypnosis," Mark continued. The fact is there are no negative effects when it comes to hypnosis. There is a side effect that many people do not know about. "The only side effect of hypnosis is an extreme state of relaxation. Many of my clients are not aware of this before they come in to see me for their first session," Mark added.

Mark began studying hypnosis formally 9 years ago, though he had started learning on his own several years before that. One student who was in his class decided that since she had a background in education, she would start teaching hypnosis as soon as she completed her initial training. Mark took a different approach, he decided to work with clients and get hands on experience doing the work before he started teaching.

"Anyone can read a book or take a class and learn something, but until you have hands on experience in a real world environment it is extremely difficult to be an effective teacher," said Mark. The fact is that Mark has a background as a teacher, he spent 12 years teaching class Piano, Keyboard and Organ lessons before moving into a career as a programmer. Now deeply involved in the third career of his life, Mark is excited that he can not only help people make positive changes with hypnosis, but he is also in a position to teach others about hypnosis and hypnotherapy so that they can help others as well.

OK, what about the chicken? How do you Hypnotize a Chicken? Mark chuckles as he says, "well, you can't be afraid of the chicken, as it does involve physical contact. It is very easy to hypnotize a chicken, You just hold its beak to the ground and draw a line in the dirt straight away from the chicken. That's all it takes."
