Aug. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- The AT&T Center is the site where almost one thousand local Boy Scout adult volunteer leaders and supporters will gather at their Council Roundtable on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 6 p.m. to further the Scouting movement.  A patch commemorating the event, nick-named “Gus”, will make his appearance at this annual Boy Scout informational and training event for volunteers.  Gus will help celebrate the Alamo Area Council’s new website http://www.AlamoAreaBSA.org and the local council’s 100 years of service to the greater San Antonio community.

A “roundtable” is the name of the informational and motivational meetings that Scouts hold to share the Scouting program to volunteers and supporters.  Gus was shared with all registered adult volunteers as a symbol of one united Scouting community.

“This new web site is being designed to give the most up to date information and materials to help our Scouting community offer the best Scouting program around,” says Michael de los Santos, Scout Executive for the Alamo Area Council, BSA, based in San Antonio, Texas.

Phase I of the new web site offers Calendar information, Contact information, Unit Information, Training information, and District Information.  It will be growing in content each day.

Angel Martinez, Communications Executive for the Greater San Antonio Boy Scouts says, "Gus is the greatest!  Just like our new website, he has been well received and well behaved from day one.”

“Please bear with us as we add new content, transfer content from the old web site and update areas which may currently appear blank,” says Mr. Martinez.

Gus, short for Augustus, is so named because he was born in the month of August.  The image sewn on Gus can only be seen from certain angles; therefore it is called a “ghost” patch.

Phase II of the new website http://www.AlamoAreaBSA.org will launch Fall 2012 with added features such as online event registration.
