Everybody Wins! New York Announces Two Board Appointments

July 24, 2012 - PRLog -- (New York, NY) July 24, 2012 – Julie M. Allen and Charlie Nguyen have been elected to the Board of Directors of Everybody Wins! New York. Founded in 1991, Everybody Wins! is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and facilitating children’s literacy programs in public elementary schools. For 20 years, EW has enabled underserved children from across the New York metropolitan area to benefit from shared reading experiences with caring adults.

Julie M. Allen is a Partner in the Corporate Department of Proskauer Rose LLP, where she is co-head of the firm’s Capital Markets Group. Her practice focuses on general corporate law and securities matters, and includes capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions, particularly transactions involving public companies, and representation of public companies, independent committees of boards of directors and activist stockholders.  She is a member of the American Bar Association, and serves on the Securities Regulation Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the TriBar Opinion Committee and the Law Firm Advisory Board of the Working Group on Legal Opinions. Allen received her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Boston University, and is a graduate of Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar.

Charlie Nguyen currently serves as Territory Vice President for the University of Phoenix where he oversees all aspects of operations for the New England states and New Jersey.  Mr. Nguyen relocated to the New York metropolitan area in September 2010.  Mr. Nguyen is a member of the Board of Directors of the Nevada Community Learning Center, a volunteer with the Bamboo Bridges Foundation and served previously as a board member of the Nevada Governor’s Workforce Investment Board. Mr. Nguyen and his wife also travel annually to southeast Asia, where they sponsor local orphanages and provide them with essential supplies and support. A father of four, he believes that “literacy is a first of many steps toward a successful educational journey, which leads to a successful life.”
