July 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Health and Safety in the workplace is always of paramount importance, especially on any construction site and one site manager has had his exceptional efforts commended by the industries regulatory body, National House Building Council (NHBC).

Dan Johnson, site manager for Miller Homes’ Ashtree Park development at Sutton-in-Ashfield received a commendation award for the particular emphasis that he places on Health and Safety at his site and the initiatives he and his team apply. Furthermore, he received national recognition at the NHBC awards ceremony where he was ‘highly commended’.

“I am delighted to have been awarded this commendation and accept it on behalf of the team,” said Dan. “We all work together to ensure our site remains a safe place  and we achieve this by sharing ideas and adopting a duty of care to each other and visitors to site. We have robust company policies that are implemented correctly and maintained by a dedicated team ensuring we remain ahead of our competitors.”

Dan, who has worked for Miller Homes since 2010, was subjected to three spontaneous visits from NHBC representatives to assess his approach to Health and Safety.

“We extend our warmest congratulations to Dan and his team and are proud to see our obligatory Health and Safety policies taken to the next level,” said Andy Davies regional operations director Miller Homes Yorkshire. “This is the first time that any site in the region has received such a commendation and we hope that Ashtree Park and Dan serve as an inspiration to others.”

The NHBC is the regulatory body for the housing construction industry. Its annual awards programme takes place each summer.
