July 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Larkfleet Homes (www.larkfleethomes.co.uk), part of the Larkfleet Group (www.larkfleetgroup.co.uk), has donated 700 sports water bottles to pupils at Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy as part of a school creative design competition.

Larkfleet gave pupils in years one to six the task of designing a ‘sport themed’ logo that could be printed onto water bottles which the housebuilder planned to donate to the school.

Larkfleet was delighted with the standard of entries and instead of picking just one winner it decided to award first and second places in almost all individual year groups.

Evie Price in year four was announced as the overall winner in a special assembly where certificates were handed out to all winners and runners up. Evie was also presented with a £25 book token for her winning design.

Evie’s sporty logo has been printed on 700 water bottles and each pupil in years one to six at Bourne Abbey Church of England Primary Academy now has their very own sport themed water bottle courtesy of Larkfleet Homes.

By donating the water bottles, Larkfleet hopes to encourage pupils to drink plenty of water to aid concentration and learning in class and also to promote participation in sporting activities both in and out of school.

Larkfleet managing director Karl Hick, himself a former athlete, commented: “We were overwhelmed with the number and standard of entries in the sports logo design competition. Larkfleet is delighted to donate the water bottles to the school pupils to use in both indoor and outdoor lessons. I hope the water bottles also encourage pupils to get involved in sporting activities and enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle.”

Larkfleet enjoys a good relationship with the school. Earlier this year Joe Yardley, Larkfleet Group’s health and safety advisor, visited the school to speak to different age groups about the hazards they may encounter on a housing development site.

The interactive assemblies were especially relevant as Larkfleet Homes has recently begun work on its Abbeyfields development, located adjacent to the school, on the old Co-op site on Manning Road. It will comprise two and three bedroom properties with prices starting at just £125,000.

There will be 108 properties including 33 affordable homes of which 13 will be offered through shared ownership and 20 through affordable rent.

Properties at Abbeyfields are perfect not only for first-time buyers but also for buyers who are looking to downsize and young families looking for a high quality new home. Abbeyfields is situated in an existing residential area and is close to the town centre, Bourne’s secondary and primary schools and various sports facilities.

Some properties on the Abbeyfields development will be available through the government-backed FirstBuy scheme through which homebuyers have the chance to take up a five-year interest-free loan.

Selected plots will benefit from solar photovoltaic (PV) panels that produce electricity from daylight, generating useable power even on cloudy days. Homeowners can therefore enjoy reduced electricity bills as well as generating additional revenue from the government’s Feed in Tariff.

Larkfleet Homes is committed to supporting local communities and is pleased to do this through its relationship with the school in Bourne where its head offices are also located.
