Former MLS defender Michael Randolph has signed with Pangea Sports Management out of Los Angeles, CA, after a historic run in the US Open Cup with his USASA amateur team, Cal FC.

Cal FC qualified for the Open Cup tournament and defeated every team in its path up until the 5th round, where they lost to 3-time consecutive Open Cup Champions Seattle Sounders.  They made history when they beat Portland Timbers in the 4th round, a team Randolph played for in 2006 where he tallied over 2,000 minutes. Michael began his professional career at Portland, playing 25 matches in his rookie season and was considered 1 of 3 finalists for the USL First Division "Rookie of the Year" honor. He was signed by the Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS in '06 where he made 39 appearances in his two years with the team, nabbing 4 assists. In 2008 he was called up to the US U-23 National Team, where he played 2 games.  He since then has signed with PDL team LA Legends, USSF 2nd Division Miami FC, and USL Pro team LA Blues. Randolph played for Yavapai College in Arizona, where he was named the ACCAC Player of the Year.  He was also scouted and recruited by UCLA.

Cal FC made history and gained substantial national attention under head coach Eric Wynalda, US Soccer Hall of Famer and FOX Soccer Analyst, who took a group of players from all over Southern California and in 5 weeks turned them into a cohesive unit, traveling on a total of 18 flights and playing 8 games in 30 days, all on the road. Cal FC was trending worldwide on Twitter, and FOX Soccer had rearranged its schedule to broadcast the matchup between the amateur team that made history and the 3-time defending champions.

Randolph’s signing with Pangea Sports Management comes 3-weeks after Randolph’s historic run with Cal came to an end, but the parties insist he isn’t done yet. “Michael has a set of skills that have proven to be valuable to all teams he’s played for,” says Namjoo Hashemi, the Managing Director of Pangea Sports Management. Our goal is to identify a club that will be able to use those skills in a mutually beneficial situation to the team and our client, which is what we pride ourselves on.”
