By: Safeway Inc. Specifically, only four stores are completely closed at noon, Monday July 2 with another 13 open, but operating on generator. The closed stores are located at 1902 Viers Mill Rd. (Rockville), 5101 Wilson Blvd. (Arlington), 9525 Braddock Rd. (Fairfax) and 5000 Bradley Blvd. (Bethesda). The company operates 19 fuel centers in conjunction with its local stores. Only its Edgewater, Md. station on West Central Ave. is closed although the grocery store is fully operational. Safeway is working to provide all of its stores well stocked on critical supplies such as ice and water. Earlier this morning, the company identified 15 stores that will expect to be replenished today by mid-afternoon with extra ice deliveries to all Safeway locations continuing as quickly as possible. The list of stores receiving the early ice shipments are as follows: •McLean - 1688 Anderson Rd. •Olney – 3333 Spartan Dr. •Bethesda – 5000 Bradley Blvd. •Gaithersburg – 20211 Goshen Rd. •Crofton – 2644 Chapel Lake Rd. (Waugh Chapel Shopping Center) •Bowie – 4101 Northview Drive •Edgewater – 52 West Central Ave. •Fairfax – 12200 Fairfax Towne Center •Burke – 5727 Burke Center •Herndon – 413 Elden St. •Washington, D.C.- 6500 Piney Branch Rd. NW •Washington, D.C. – 1601 Maryland Ave. NE (Hechinger Mall) Safeway’s Eastern Division employs approximately 18,000 people and currently operates 157 stores, including 26 Genuardi's Markets in Southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with 66 Safeway stores in Maryland, 43 in Virginia, 14 in the District of Columbia and four in Delaware.
