We create a "communal group" where campers and staff participate together.
By: Presentation Multimedia Kadima For Children 3 to 4 years old (Must be 3 by 10/15/12) Kadima campers thrive in a nurturing, enthusiastic, supportive and structured environment. Special attention is given to the social growth, emotional development and physical needs of each individual camper. Campers are home-based in air-conditioned rooms, with most activities taking place outdoors. Campers are divided by age and friendships into groups averaging 14 children. Each group is supervised by three counselors: an adult head counselor, a college student, and a high school upperclassmen. Kadima also allows youngsters with special needs to enjoy a fully inclusive camp experience Masada Bogrim for children entering kindergarten. Rishonim for children entering first grade. Masada campers enjoy a wide range of activities in a Jewish environment that encourages independence and growth. Special emphasis is placed on development of social skills, self esteem, and sportsmanship. Single sex and coed groups are made up of 12 to 15 campers, supervised by two or three staff members: college students and high school upperclassmen. Specialties are led by professionals with the assistance of group counselors. Exciting theme days highlight each week with special activities, entertainment and ruach (spirit). Masada also allows youngsters with special needs to enjoy a fully inclusive camp experience. Gesher For children entering 2nd grade in September 2012 Our Gesher program provides unique programming which reflects the developmental needs and abilities of campers of this age. It includes more challenging opportunities and adventures such as choosing a “Major” in area of interest for an extended period, participating in exciting trips out of camp and visits with specialists that gear their sessions for this age group. Groups will consist of 12-15 campers with two or three counselors (college students and high school upperclassmen) Gesher also allows youngsters with special needs to enjoy a fully inclusive camp experience Yomi & Yomi-Seniors For Children Entering 3rd through 6th grade We are excited about our partnership with the 92nd Street Y Camps. Yomi (3rd & 4th grade)and Yomi-Seniors (5th & 6th grade) provide campers with an exceptional camping experience geared especially for this age group. Activities are numerous and varied, allowing older campers the opportunity to explore new and challenging experiences. A healthy competitive spirit is developed through athletic pursuits in team leagues and intercamp games. Yomi and Yomi-Seniors take place at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds in Pearl River, New York (just 20 minutes from the JCC) on facilities that include a pool complex with a water slide, a lake for boating, ball fields, pioneering trails and hundreds of wooded acres. Yomi groups consist of 16-18 campers and are co-ed. Yomi/Seniors groups consist of 16-18 campers and are single sex. The program also allows youngsters with special needs to enjoy a fully inclusive camp experience. Tikvah Children with Special Needs Ages 5 - 15 (Must be 5 by 10/15/12) Tikvah is designed to meet the special needs of children and adolescents between the ages of 5 and 15 who have been classified with mild neurological and/or perceptual impairment. All prospective campers must be interviewed to determine if the Tikvah program can meet their individual needs and that an appropriate group placement is available. Special attention is given to each camper in order to ensure a summer of enjoyment and learning. Group sizes range from three to six campers, staffed by a minimum of two caring and qualified counselors.
